CNS Management Team

CNS Directors Group

The Directors Group consists of six professors that represent major technical areas of focus for CNS. They are responsible for determining the overall direction of the Center. They are all full time members of the faculty who run their own experimental laboratories. The day-to-day operation of CNS is the responsibility of the Technical Director. The members of the Directors Group are listed below as well as the major technical area they represent.

CNS Technical Director
Dr. Eric Martin

The Technical Director is responsible for managing the operations of CNS. This person is the "field general" who oversees daily Center business and works with the Directors Group to implement the long range plans and programs as part of the CNS mission.

Eric Martin brings more than twenty years of research and development experience to his role as Technical Director of Harvard University’s Center for Nanoscale Systems.  Prior to arriving at CNS Dr. Martin held engineering management positions for Avici Systems in Billerica, MA where was responsible for hardware development of a carrier-class fiber optical IP router product line Previously he was Director of Engineering for Lasertron in Bedford, MA overseeing development of fiber optical communications modules and components.  An electrical engineer by training, he is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

CNS Assistant Director
The Assitant Director is responsible for the logistics of the administrative operations of CNS. This person coordinates daily Center business and works with the Technical Director to implement the daily plans and programs as part of the CNS mission.
